Upholding The Boss Hog’s five promises: single barrel, bottled at proof, powerfully complex, distinctly unique from anything they have done before and stupendous – The Boss Hog IX is Straight Rye Whiskey aged in American Oak and double cask finished in WhistlePig’s own Greek fig nectar and farm-scratch tentura, a Greek liqueur.
To curate a Boss Hog that’s unlike anything collectors have seen or sipped before, WhistlePig’s female whiskey makers turned to the nine ancient Muses from Greece, who inspired all manner of discoveries and creations from science to art - and now profound whiskey.
These nine Muses and her respective arts grace each bottle in the form of a bespoke pewter topper, with the full set randomly distributed on bottles throughout Australia; some more rare than others (collectors will be fortuitous to obtain a bottle capped with Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy and most limited bottle offering).
About the Brand
WhistlePig began with the purchase of a farm in 2007, and after a few years of deep consideration and personal reflection the team at Whistle Pig committed themselves to crafting the world’s finest and most interesting rye whiskies. With help from Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, they discovered and purchased an incredible stock of 10 year old blending whiskey in Canada that was being profoundly misused. That initial stock, for which they are forever grateful, is what kicked off their grand adventure.
